HISTORY
Patient Shahnaz was a 62-years-old man who admitted in Beijing Puhua International Hospital due to “weakness of right limbs for 15 months, weakness of left lower limb for 9 months, slurred speech, dysphagia, and coughing when drinking water for 3 months,” with a diagnosis of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
Medical condition before Stem Cell Treatment
Before stem cell treatment of ALS, Patient Shahnaz’s general physical condition was not good. Dysarthria was noted with tongue muscle atrophy and fibrillation. Muscle strength: lower limbs and right upper limb 0/5; near- end of left upper limb 3/5, distal end 4/5; Obvious muscular dystrophy was noted in bilateral distal- end of upper limbs. Muscle tone was decreased in four limbs.
Stem Cell Treatment for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
The patient was given self stem cell activation and proliferation therapy, neural stem cell transplantation through lumbar punctures and IV injections, rehabilitation therapy (Physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy), and TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine).
Medical condition after Stem Cell Treatment (SCT)
With stem cell treatments for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Patient Shahnaz’s condition became better than before. Her muscle strength has been improved in left upper limb. She can sit for 5 seconds by herself. Breathing and swallowing has been much better than before. Muscle strength: lower limbs and right upper limb: 1/5; near- end of left upper limb 4+/5, distal end 4+/5.
The patient and his families are satisfied with the treatment effect. Through the SCT treatment, the patient’s life quality has been much better than before and more optimistic to live.
