HISTORY

Patient Alameni Asem.A.M was a 29-year-old admitted at Puhua International Hospital in December 2010, due to “Disorders of: activities and sensation of the lower limbs, urination, and defecation for more than eight months caused by falling from high place.”

On 26th April 2010, ALAMEMI ASEM.A.M fell down from the second floor to the ground, which led to spinal cord injury (SCI) at T9-11. He suffered from paraplegia since the Spinal Cord Injury SCI. One reduction operation with posterior fixation by screws had been performed.

He was given rehabilitation therapy after the surgery for Spinal Cord Injury.

Medical condition before Stem Cell Treatment (SCT) for spinal cord injury (SCI)

Prior to his arrival at PIH, Patient Alameni Asem.A.M was alert with normal breathing, speech, cognition and movement of his upper limbs.

He suffered from paraplegia, presenting as lack of sensation of pain and temperature below the level of his umbilicus and no movement of his lower limbs. He also had a problem of urinary and fecal incontinence.

Stem Cell Treatment (SCT) for spinal cord injury (SCI)

Four injections of neural stem cells, self stem cell activation, proliferation therapy, rehabilitation therapy, and TCM

Medical condition after Stem Cell Treatment (SCT) for spinal cord injury (SCI)

While in hospital, Patient Alameni Asem.A.M cooperated well with the Stem Cell Treatment and he also worked hard during the rehabilitation training. He responded well to the treatment from the first injection of stem cells.  His sensation level improved, and moved from his umbilicus plane (before) to his hip plane (after SCT). One morning after the first injection, he felt an erection. More and more improvements occurred day-by-day from the effect of Stem Cell Treatment (SCT) for his spinal cord injury (SCI). After the second course of stem cell implantation, he felt pain in his foot when the nurse took out the IV needle from it. The third time, he was able to move his toes a little. He could even begin to lift up his feets lightly.

With stem cell treatment, Patient Alameni Asem.A.M regained sensation in his legs, and is now able to move his legs a little.

All are looking forward to seeing more improvements in the future with Patient Alameni Asem.A.M.
